Talking to a client yesterday, he said, “what if we got rid of all cell phones, cable t.v. and internet”. Go back to the dark ages of the 1970’s and 1980’s. Would it make life more simple? Or, are we now so integrated into the technology of today it would seem impossible?
What if you had to actually drive over to another office and hand deliver that contract? Or, maybe fax the information to the agent working with that buyer. Would it feel like things are moving a little slower? Could you handle it?
Have you ever stopped to think, most of those born since 1995 in America, have no idea what it's like not to have a cell phone, cable t.v. or the internet. Not to mention Facebook, Twitter and all that other stuff. It really would be like the dark ages for them, but how about you. A lot of us are old enough to remember the hippie movement in the late sixties. Some of you probably were one! Some of you may still be one? Just a little thinner on top.
Was life more simple in the 50’s and 60’s or am I just being nostalgic? Maybe in the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s, our parents and grandparents sat around and reminisced about what it was like when they were young. Instead of cars, horses. Instead of phones and fax lines, they did have to actually go talk to the person. That was the "real" social media. It hasn’t been that long ago. What was life-like in 1910, a mere 100 years ago?
