New Home Sales and The Main Stream Media

Once again, the media has been playing us like a violin. If you listened to them and based your business plan on their agenda, you might be wondering where you went wrong about now. See the story here on new home sales. I'm not saying, don't be optimistic when working your plan. I am saying, you know your market place, be realistic.

Several months ago, before the unemployment was anywhere near where it is today, I turned on the radio and heard someone say, "the recession is over"! That must have been the beginning of the media talking points regarding our down economy. They keep saying it, but in this state, the unemployment rate is still above 11.0%. Another thing, this term they are trying to spin about a jobless recovery is crazy. How can there be a jobless recovery? What is a jobless recovery anyway. There can't be a recovery in the economy until people are back at work and have money to spend.

I decided long ago not to believe most of what I read in the mainstream media. There are too many other ways to find information today then to rely on those dinosaurs.

In our business, as with most businesses, what goes on in the market and how it is portrayed in the media are two different things. We seem to be in different worlds. When I see unit sales increasing, when I see unemployment rates go down, when I see people excited again about buying or owning their home, when I see people opening up businesses and creating REAL JOBS (not government jobs), when people call just to talk about real estate and see how homes are selling, then I will believe the market has turned around. I will not believe it just because all the mainstream media moguls got together and decided to push their agenda.
